Bharati Talkies staged this Therukuuthu in late 2008 as part of the SIS Deepavalli festival.
Concept :Therukuuthu is a traditional street folk theater which is often used to narrate mythological stories. This particular theatrical style is very popular in the rural parts of South India.
Plot : Yamadharmaraja (God of Death) arriving to take Satyavan away. Savitri, Satyavan’s wife, initially begs Yamadharmaraja to spare her husbands life. When she finds that her tears arent helping, she decides to try and outsmart Yamadharmaraja.
